Limon Colorado

Image
Limon Colorado was a very interesting little town in the middle of nowhere. It had a very reasonable campground but the museum was very interesting.  Look at the detail of this carved stump. Windmills were a big part of this area and they had six different ones restored Limon was the crossroads for the trains going north and south and east and west. They had multiple cars restored and very interesting. This was a box car filled with saddles. Had a one-room schoolhouse and these are the rules for both the students and the teachers. You may have to blow them up to read closely.

Palo Duro State Park

This is our second time being at Palo Duro and we walked the 5.6 mi round trip to the lighthouse. You actually drive and camp down into the canyon which is 800 ft deep a 10% grade on the road. It floods often, the 25th they had flash flood. The trails were closed because of flooding for two of our 3 days and we traveled to Canyon, Texas. There we met Tex This little train used to take people around the bottom of the Palo Duro Canyon. You can see the lighthouse behind us but as we get closer we were right below it.
